Ronald J. Schwartz

Ronald J. Schwartz established Schwartz & Greenwood P.C. as a solo practitioner. Since then, the firm has provided the New York and Florida area with services focused on the elderly.

Ronald J. Schwartz, Esq. was born in The Bronx. After graduating Queens College, he quickly realized a passion for the law. Ronald graduated from Brooklyn Law School, and Brooklyn Law School’s LLM program.  After law school, Mr. Schwartz would go on to work on Mayor Lindsay’s legal team, where he worked as assistant corporation counsel. In addition, Ronald felt called to fulfill his civic duty by serving as a traffic court magistrate for 16 years. As the practice grew, Mr. Schwartz felt compelled to advance the field by writing a comprehensive textbook based on his knowledge and experience. The book and its subsequent second edition led to several teaching opportunities at St. Johns and Brooklyn Law School, where Ronald served as an adjunct professor. In addition, Mr. Schwartz shared his passion for elder law with wider audiences by lecturing regularly for several cruise lines and institutions around the world.

Since 1964, Ronald J. Schwartz has provided the New York Metropolitan Area and Florida with services focused on the elderly. He has dedicated his career to the field of Elder Law since its inception and his credentials include:

  • Founding leader in the field of Elder Law since its inception
  • Court Appointed Guardian and Trustee
  • Author of Law and Aging (1998), 2nd Edition (2004)
  • Contributing writer to national legal journals
  • Member of the New York and Florida Bars
  • Awarded Juris Doctorate (J.D.) Degree (1963) and Master of Laws (L.L.M.) 1965 From Brooklyn Law School
  • Awarded Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) 1960 from Queens College of the City University of New York
  • Expert Elder Law Consultant on local and national broadcast radio programs, including The (late) Dr. Bernard Meltzer’s Radio Show.
  • Former Administrative Law Judge for the City of New York
  • Former Family Court Conference Officer for the State of New York
  • Adjunct Professor at State University of New York, Old Westbury and St. John’s University
  • Special Adjunct Professor at Brooklyn Law School
  • Honored by the Parker Jewish Institute for two decades of philanthropic achievement in 2013

Whereas:
At tonight’s Gala, Parker’s dedicated staff and supporters will gather to celebrate everything that the institute has accomplished over the past year and the many contributions it has made to our residents. This event is also a terrific opportunity to recognize this year’s honoree, Ronald J. Schwartz, upholding this organization’s mission. Together, we look forward to helping even more of our seniors age with grace and dignity and enjoy everything that makes our city so great.
